Munich Germany

According to my clock it is 9:00am and we are in Munich Germany waiting for our flight to Budapest. It is interesting that we keep getting a “Free Public WiFi” showing up, but we are not able to access the internet on it, go figure, so this is a postdated blog done in Word while sitting in the airport. By the way, according to your clock it is 3:00am EST.

So far so good, no turbulence to speak of and we landed a little early. It seems weird to say that we have traveled over 80% of the distance but according to time we are only half way there. Continue to pray for us and that we will get some sleep soon.

Less than 2 Hours in the States

We are in Charlotte, NC awaiting a flight to Germany. The trip has begun and already we have been blessed. We knew before we left that we were a little short of money that we were hoping to have to the sum $500. When we arrived at the Louisville Airport we began to check our bags and the 10 totes that we are taking. These totes would cost us $50 a piece. God in his extreme awesomeness, when we checked in our bags and totes expecting to pay for them we were told the computer showed no charge so we did not owe anything. Now you do the math, the total saved=the total needed.

If this is an introduction of what is about to happen then I look forward to the next blog post. Also, the counter worker checking us in at the Lufthansa desk is from Baia Marre, Romania, which is where we are going, so we were able to brighten her day also.

Pray for us and for Cathy for safe travel and preparedness for the next week and a half.

20 Hours

The team is now 20 hours from leaving and already Satan is trying to spoil what God has paved the way for. Pastor has heard from a friend of his about his health and the outcome looks bleak. I know his mind will be with them we are out of the country, but I know that his heart will be with the people of Romania as will be his friend’s for he knows and understands the need of the Word of God to be shared with the world.

I covet your prayers as we travel over the next few days. We will be on the go for 30 hours once we begin our first flight which leaves at 12:15 EST. I think all of us our a little nervous, but it is a different nervousness, more of an excitement because we really do not know what to expect but we are all prepared to allow God to work.

We all should be blogging right here while we are gone so return often for updates and feel free to leave us comments, anything from home is nice when you are out of the country.

We look forward to sharing with you soon.

Counting Down – 16 days

We are counting down to the boarding the planes and buses to Baia Mare. The schedules are coming together even though we have been told time and again that “PLANS CHANGE!!!” I have about a week to get myself prepared due to going to camp in Illinois, so I am trying to get everything done in this next week in preparation for the trip. It amazes me that even though I feel completely unprepared for this trip, I am not afraid or anxious because I know that God has the plans already worked out and that his words will be the only ones spoken to the people while we are there.

Please pray for us as we prepare for the trip beginning the 19th.

One Month and Counting

In one month we will be ariving in Baia Marre and time seems to be flying by. I am ready but at the same time am not. Either way, ready or not here we go.

We will be blogging here and I will be linking this to the kingsbaptist.net website for easier acces.

Continue to pray for the team and especially for Cathy who is already on the field in the UK. She will be meeting us in Budapest, Hungary.

More about the trip will follow.

2 Months and 1 Week

It amazes me that we are only 2 months and 1 week away from flying out to Romania. The speed at which this trip is progressing in mind-boggling, but I know that God is in it and we will will be blessed. The frustration is setting in for some of us; there is much to plan and little time for planning, but God is putting the right people in place to help us. We ask that you pray for us, pray for the trip, and pray for the people to who we are going to proclaim the gospel.

2 Trips in a Year

This spring has been interesting. I was recently told by the pastor that he is planning a trip to Romania this Summer. He also told me that he would like Amy and I to be a part of that trip. This took me off guard seeing that we planned for over a year for the Honduras trip. I was excited, but I was also concerned about how we were going to come up with the money to go. Well God took care of our fears for that and I know that Amy and I are going and I look forward to seeing who God will call to this trip. I saw many hearts broken and lives changed since our return from Honduras in January. Lord willing many more will come to know that our mission field is broad and there is so much more to be done. Be praying for us and Pastor Keith and all whose hearts are about to be broken for the people of Romania as God builds his team to go.

Pictures Galore!

I have finally posted all of the pictures. It took me a while to figure out how to embed them into the webpage, but I found a cool gallery code that works great. You can either navigate to the 4HisService.com Family Pages o see the links to the Right for the different galleries. I am still working on the videos and will post them as soon as I figure it out.

After the Trip

It has been a few weeks since we were in country and honestly it is a little surreal to be back in the swing of the normal grind of work. I know Amy and Isaiah are ready to go back now and I am not sure if I don’t agree with them.

It is cool to see the change in the lives of the people on the team. Of course this is the main point of a short term mission trip. It is my prayer that they all will have found a new passion for serving the ministry of Christ. Lord willing, Amy is meeting with the ladies of the group and I will also try to meet with the men of the group in order to just see where each of them are spiritually after the trip. I have found that any time you go on one of these trips and God allows you to witness a great harvest there is such a high that accompanies it that when you come home it is almost a little depressing. I love the passion of the people of Honduras as they worship God and I also envy that passion for our people here, but for now I crave to maintain that passion in our own lives.

Bittersweet

DSC01804Well it is Friday, and as much as I was looking forward to not preaching tonight and to see what God was going to do through Wes, Adam, and Eric, I am sad that I did not have another opportunity to give one more message to the people of Comayagua. Amy said that she wishes we could stay another week. Who knows what the future holds, but for now we are wrapping up the trip. I will soon be placing all of the pictures and video on the website, but that will have to wait until we get back home.

God has reaped a harvest this week. We have a recorded 188 professions of faith this week and that is with the faithfulness of a few. Kings Baptist Church, as well as anyone else reading this blog, imagine what we could do with 400 being faithful to the task of sharing the gospel with our own communities. We marvel at the stories of the multitudes that came to Christ at Pentecost, but this is not impossible when God’s people are working together.DSC01769

Will you be the one? We were told this week to not talk to a certain man because he has turned away everyone who has ever tried to talk to him about Jesus and that man came to Christ this week because we would not give up. A 74 year old woman who was a long-time member of the Catholic church said she believed that she was a good person and that she knew that her church was right. Today she learned the truth because we were willing to take the time and tell her that we didn’t want to change her church but to change her life by giving her the hope and assurance of a saving faith through Christ Jesus.

Tonight we are celebrating the victory with our team and our support GEDC0491staff of interpreters. I pray that as our team returns home tomorrow that we will remember that at home we won’t need interpreters in order to share the gospel, only the courage to do so.

Via con Dios,

Rich
