Worried and Weary but not Swayed

I am worried because for the last 3 weeks my back has seemed to get worse. I am weary because I know I will not be able to do all that I want to do. However, I am not swayed from going and serving and I am confident that God will overcome the pain and allow the mission to succeed. So far everything is on track. We are starting to see some snow, but it should be cleared from the runways by the time we are leaving Saturday. Please pray for me that this pain will go away or that I will be strong enough to bare it. Pray for the rest of the team that they may experience a life-changing event this week and will come home with a new found sense of service.

Little Drummer Boy

I think I said earlier that I was going to post the video that the kids made of their drama that we showed at the Dessert Theatre but I did not link it anywher until now. I will say that this is the full video so if you have a slower connections speed it may be choppy so you may want to right click and download it first before watching it. I will try to shrink it at a later time.

Who is the Greatest?

As I realized today, we have less than three weeks left before we leave for Honduras and as I studied Matthew 18, the phrase, “Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven” stood out to me. I think sometimes, even with the best of intentions, we look at ourselves as superior when preparing to go to what we consider a third world country. But what makes us so great? Christ says that it is one who humles himself before Christ and comes with the innocence of a small child who will be the greatest in the Kingdom. As I prepare I am remembering the number of little ones that professed their faith in Jesus Christ and the joy that that had because of it. I am therefore humbled by my often complaining heart. Who is the greatest? As long as I am in the Kingdom, it doesn’t matter if it is me.

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

According to the Gospel of Matthew (4:17) this is the first, “sermon” of Christ. How simple yet powerful. I wonder how often we forget that proclaiming the truth is just that simple. Lord, give us the strength and the courage to share this simple truth with everyone.

Less Than 30 Days Away

The team is getting excited. I hope to have them begin posting to the site before we leave. We found out today that there will be a $30 charge for the second checked bag so we have to determine how much we can afford to take. I want to take everything we collect, so I am praying that God provides for the needs with the money need to send the totes.

All of Isaiah’s teachers are exited about the trip and want to be able to show the rest of the students things from the trip so we will be uploading pictures and video as often as we can plus we will be blogging everyday while gone to describe what each of us felt and did that day.

If you are a friend or a family member of one of the team members, feel free to leave a comment for them, but also let people know about the blog. The more who know, the more impact we will have with the people of Honduras because of the prayer support that this blog will generate.

Remember to pray for us between January 9-17, 2010

In Christ,
Rich
