Dios le bendiga “God Bless you”

Today and this week has been wonderful. I am sad to be leaving in such a short while. But it has been a wonderful time here in Honduras. It is such a sweet country with very welcoming people and people that have such a desire for God. I hope I can take just a pinch of that home with me.

Tonight’s service was very good. I especially enjoyed the prayer time at the end. I prayed for a lady at the altar  and then she ended up praying for me and my baby. It was a very sweet time. I have really enjoyed the church services. The music is very fun and powerful!

Yo soy el buen pastor.

“You are the good shepherd”. This was the theme for VBS yesterday. My husband, Wes, told the parable of the lost sheep and the rest of the group acted it out. It was a very fun way to share with kids the Gospel. Wes then led into how Christ can be your shepherd. I greatly enjoyed working with the little ones and seeing how attentive they were. I praise God that we can call him the “Good Shepherd”.

Happy to be back in Honduras!

Today was a very long day but very eventful. We got through security fine and then went to eat at Burger King, then we went on a 2 hour bus ride to Comayagua from the capital. We then arrived at our not so typical mission-like house that is on a gated community (very safe!). We then settled in and then some of us decided to organize the totes of all the awesome stuff we brought with us (thank you everyone that donated and bought supplies for us). We then were ready for the week and very organized. For those of you that know me, this part was fun to me. I later found out that I will be going to a school on Wednesday and talking to a bilingual school about the differences in American (USA) schools verses Honduras schools. This will also hopefully open a door to share the gospel as well!! Hope everyone at home is doing well, thanks again for all the prayers. Headed to bed now for an exciting day tomorrow.

Let us be as little children…

Last night we were so blessed to be a part of a church that had so many children there. I was amazed at how well they worshipped and praised God and also how attentive they were during the service. I had a little girl come sit with me and Wes she had remembered me from earlier that day. Even though we couldn’t speak the same language we understand the same God.

Later last night when we had share time, Wes said that in all the greetings of the children he is reminded of Jesus. He said he thinks of Jesus and how he would travel around to city to city and be greeted by people and children and they would follow him. I am sure you have read the blog Wes wrote about Nelson receiving Christ and then following us back to church. Yesterday Wes said he had some other children just follow them around. He said it makes me feel a little like Jesus did and how the little children would greet him and follow him.

If anything I just hope in this week we have learned to be a little more like Jesus.

Esculea in Honduras!

100_5602Since I am a teacher I have been wanting to visit a school since I have been here. So this morning I found out they had arranged for me to go visit a bilingual school (means that they speak English and Spanish). Erin, Beth and Isaiah also got to go. When we got there we found out they were going to be going to recess soon, which is not where they play games per say but where they get a snack (fried foods) and sit around and talk. So we walked around and talked to some of the students in English and handed out tracks to them. A lot of the younger students really liked them and all of the kids kept coming up and wanting them. The school was really relaxed; we also got to go into some into some of the classrooms.

Erin and I got to go visit an 8th grade class, the teacher let us talk to them and then he asked us to share the gospel with the class. I thought to myself if we could only do this is the U.S.!! So I went on to share with them about Jesus and why he came to the earth to die for us. A lot of the kids raised their hands that they had heard about Jesus before and some 100_5611of them said that they had accepted Christ before but a few had not. So I went through the sinner’s prayer with them and all of the students said the prayer with me. They didn’t want to raise their hand that they had said the prayer but I told them to tell their teacher if they did. We also left some bibles there in case some of them didn’t have any. Then the teacher asked us to share our testimony with the kids, it was so cool to share with them and they all truly listened.

Afterwards we went to another class that was taught by and American teacher he was from Buffalo NY. He was teaching English and talking about a poem. He also got on the topic of segregation, several of the students had never heard of that before. So he used us as an example of how since we were white we would have to sit outside for class and they could sit inside. They thought the idea of segregation was horrible, to me it was awesome that they didn’t know about this horrible thing. They think that everyone should be together no matter what color their skin is and that is so awesome, because there are so many people back in the U.S. that still have this idea of segregation and that is not good. Anyways I just wish people could have just a taste of the culture and mindset that is here in Honduras there with them in their heart.

100_5632We also got to sing a song with a younger class; the kids were so sweet and so excited that we were there. I just loved visiting the school and it would be neat to teach in a different school. This was a really nice private school and they are on an America schedule. The regular Honduras schedule is February through November and some of the schools here are probably not this nice. This experience was truly special to me and I am so glad I got to go to this school.

God is working in Siguatepeque!

Hello friends and family,

Yesterday was our long day we went to a northern town in the mountains called Siguatepeque. We went evangelizing in the morning and the afternoon the people there truly have nothing. I got to give a stuffed animal to some little girls and they just carried it around everywhere they thought I gave them the world!! I also thought it was cool how all of them live so close (walking distance) to their family. I have always put family at a top priority in my life, but family is pretty much all these people have. Some of the people in the same family got saved yesterday and I told them through the translator to help each other with their faith and hold each other accountable.100_5502

Later in the afternoon we had a fiesta for the kids. At first I looked around and I did see but a few kids but all of sudden there were about 60 kids!! We had the fiesta at a pavalion and the kids just sat there and listened and were so happy to participate. This little boy got a truck for participating in a game and his smile was so big!!! 100_5554

After evangelism for the second time we went to their church in the evening. This church had just moved to this location because they continue to grow and even this night they had packed the place out!! We only had a guitar for music but you could really feel the presence of the Lord there. I also got to talk to this girl that teaches in Honudras in English, she was really sweet and you could truly see her love for the people.

Afterwards we had an hour drive back to Comayagua, on the way back it was dark and we came around a turn and all of a sudden you could see the city of Comayagua in the valley it was so beautiful!! Well I hope you all are doing well, thanks for all the prayers and encouragement!!

Lord we lift up holy hands…

Yesterday was such an amazing day!! First we went evangelizing and I got to talk to so many kids and people, the people hear just love talking to you about Jesus. Sometimes when we are talking to other people others will be interested and start to listen or stand there and wait for us to talk to them its really cool how they want to see what we are talking about and are so receptive. Ida and I got to  talk to so many, once the day was over we realized we had 27 confessions of faith. We had one young man that didn’t want to receive Christ so we just tried to encourage him and we gave him a bible, tract and Christian book. So please be praying for his heart.

All the kids at VBS!!

Later in the day we had a 2 hour VBS for kids. We had so many that came and they seemed so excited to be there !! While the bible story was going on I got to hold this little girl and she ended up falling asleep on my shoulder it was so sweet. Some of you know how much I love babies so this was so precious to me. Then outside, Wes and I got to lead games, we did some relay races where they sent frisbees down the line to see who was fastest. Then we did duck, duck, goose they loved it and some of them had never played it. I ended up sitting by a little girl I had witnessed to that morning she ended up giving me a hug and kiss on the cheek when we left. It was so cool!!

The sweet little girl I got to hold!!

Last night we went to a worship service. The spirit was so moving and they turned the lights out while we sang songs and just lights were on the stage, the worship service was so awesome and humbling. Then Ida, Beth and I sang “You are God Alone”, I told the people to worship with us in Spanish even though we were singing in English. Eric gave his testimony it was really moving. Rich’s sermon was also very awesome afterwards we had an invitation and a few people came up. One was a woman we had talked to that morning and she had been hurting in the back and neck, Ida and I just laid hands on her and prayed for her in English even though she couldn’t understand us she still prayed to the heavens and worshipped God. You could truly feel the Holy Spirit moving in that place. Afterwards our interpreter who name is Gerson (Harrison it makes me think of you because he says it that way!!) said that the woman said that the woman said she was healed, that made me so happy.

Well now we are getting ready to drive an hour up into the mountains where it is a little cooler than where we are now. We are going to evangelize, do a skit (fiesta) and a church service we are taking lunch with us and won’t be back until dinner. So pray for us today as we go out!! Love you all and thanks for all the wonderful comments!!

In Christ,

Stephanie

God is amazing!!

100_5359Today has already proven that God is with us!! Today I was with Ida and we got to witness to several kids and adults. We has 27 confessions of faith!! God is truly amazing. Just to see the excitment on the kids faces when we first tell them about the Lord is truly awesome. This afternoon we are going to have a VBS for the kids!! Continue to pray for us as we do God’s work!! Today total we had 45 confessions of faith, total this week is 66!!! Praise God!!

“No ameis al mundo, ni las cosas que estan en el mundo. Si alguno ama al mundo, el amor del Padre no esta en el.” 1 Juan 2:15

“Do not love the world or the things that belong to the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in Him.” 1 John 2:15 Today has been an amazing day. This morning we went to church and 8 people were baptized!!! The people are so welcoming and everyone freely worships. Tonight Wes and I testified and it was an awesome church, you could really feel the presence of the Lord there, it was so wonderful. I said a few things in Spanish when I started and the people there seemed to really like it. Wes shared about his life and his wreck in 2008 and people seemed to really be touched by that. Afterwards a girl named Rachel came up and talked to me and she said she was really blessed by my testimony and that blessed me just by here telling me so. So far this trip has been nothing like I have expected but everything much more than I could imagine!! Glory to God, Gloria a Dios!!!

Long day but exciting times….

Hello parents, family and friends,

After a long day we finally made it to Honduras. The flights were long not the part in the air but the whole travelling and in the airport… once we got here we went to Burger King, I was starving because we hadn’t ate anything since 5 this morning. We then had a 2 hour ride to Comayagua.. the view was beautiful and there were mountains all around, the air was cool but it was def. better than KY weather. Once we arrived at our mission house where we are staying I was very happy it reminded me a lot of the camp retreat house at Cedar Ridge KY (some of you will know what I am talking about!!).. anyways then we ate dinner which was prepared by awesome local girls that help out here and were so sweet but don’t speak English so I had fun trying some of my Spanish out… by the way the food was AWESOME!!! Well now after a great hot shower I am not writing you all and hope you are doing well, tomorrow we are going to church and I am super excited about that. Tomorrow night Wes and I are suppose to give our testimony so please pray for confidence and strength!!! We love you all and goodnight!!

Stephanie
