Hola!

Today, my team went door to door witnessing. At one home, there was a dirt and rock floor with lots of blocks lying around. Basically, the place was a complete mess as far as U.S. citizens are concerned. The house had been demolished and they were in the process of “remodeling.” There were few possessions lying around. The lady thanked Jesus for her home and all she had. I was reminded of the picture taped to my fridge. On one side is African children with bones protruding and hands held out receiving food. On the other side is a photo of U.S. women looking frantic and stressed buying Christmas presents with arms and carts loaded with stuff no one needs (in my opinion.) The title says “What are your priorities?” Our priority is to go and tell others about Jesus. I ask you what is your priority? I am reminded also about the David Platt book called Radical where we are highly encouraged to quit living the American dream and use our resources to advance the Kingdom. Suddenly, my faded, worn out blue carpet doesn’t seem so important to replace any more. The lady was so happy about the home God had given her. Would you be happy with so little? After all, God has bless her with a roof over her head.

God rocks

Isaiah, Stephanie, Matt, Christianna, Pamella and I drove to a school  today to speak about God and tell them about our schools from back home. I had an amazing time being a part of it, and I pray that after delivered the message of the gospel to those kids, that I’ve planted a seed , and that god will begin to work in their Hearts. They had a lot of questions, and I could tell that they were hungry for God’s word.

In Christ Alone

Well today most of the team went on door-to-door evangelism. But a few of us, Cathy, Stephanie, Isaiah, Collin, my dad and I all went  to a school to share the Gospel and share about the differences between our school systems. Stephanie introduced us all and talked a little bit about what she does as a teacher in the US. Collin and Isaiah talked about, FCA, band, and their daily routine. Cathy and I shared about homeschooling and what that is like for us. Collin then shared the Gospel with all the kids, I tell you that kid has a gift. God is going to do great things with him. Isaiah then shared the gospel, explaining the tracks we were handing out. Then we had a question and answer time. The kids were a little quiet but we got some great questions. Such as, “how do I have eternal life?”,  “what is Jesus’s love?”, “what is spiritual growth?”, etc. It was really great. We handed out Bibles which was really great, I really hope they read them. A couple, no not a couple, a ton of kids asked for us to sign their Bibles. It was really funny. At one point there were like 10 girls around Isaiah, and Collin and I were making jokes about “boy-band Isaiah”.  We will be leaving to go assist in a clothing ministry in a little less than an hour and after that we will be going to a church service. I will be singing “In Christ Alone”. That song has been playing through my mind often in preparation and on this trip. In Christ alone is the only way we can do anything.

Please continue to keep the team in your prayers,

Christianna

That is the number of people who made a decision for Christ today! It always amazes me how easy the harvest comes in this part of the world. 9 of us broke into 4 teams and 29 people were saved from God’s wrath this morning. Another 6 spoke to a school of children who mostly were Christian, and 2 more were added to the Kingdom.

I had the honor of serving with Eddie this morning and even through his nervousness and Kentucky slang, God used him as a vessel for His glory! To watch him interact with people in their homes is a testimony of the work that God is doing in his life and a reminder to each of us that through God, all things are possible.

Yo soy el buen pastor.

“You are the good shepherd”. This was the theme for VBS yesterday. My husband, Wes, told the parable of the lost sheep and the rest of the group acted it out. It was a very fun way to share with kids the Gospel. Wes then led into how Christ can be your shepherd. I greatly enjoyed working with the little ones and seeing how attentive they were. I praise God that we can call him the “Good Shepherd”.

Be the moon – reflect the SON

Last night at the church in Comayagua the big garage door stayed open, which was nice for ventilation, and it allowed us to see the moon hanging in the night sky between two palm trees. Reminded of Jason’s devo from the morning I prayed that God would use me this week like he uses the moon. Just a big chunk of rock in space it can do nothing on its own, but when in the right place it shines super bright – reflecting the sun. And we too, when our hearts are in the right place shine brightly into this dark world for Christ. So let’s all, whether at home or on the foreign mission field, be the moon and reflect the Son.

Loving this time

So far we have seen lots of very nice people all our translators are the nicest people you would ever want to meet it is so awsome. We went to the hospital for children and prayed for them and there family it was heart wrenching to say the least. Then we went to a childrens home and gave them a pillow of all things and they smiled so big you thought you gave them a new car. Two of the little girls came and sat on my lap it was precious the one on my left knee is an orphan. Her mom died in a car wreck, the one on my right knee was eating her own hair because she was so hungry when they found her. I cry every time I think of them and would love to be able to help so much more but outside of adopting them what can we do. I ask that you pray for them and maybe think about sending some money to the home once a month. It is breakfast time so I have to go love Eddie

PS Thank you God for this opportunity

el bebe sin un nombre (the baby with no name)

I walk into a small hospital room, no larger than a closet

And there he is, lying motionless in a crib

His mother is watching over him all alone.

But that is all she can do, just watch

Our interpreter explains he’s 1 month old and he has pneumonia

I stare at the helpless small form, unable to imagine the fight he’s in at just one month old

Then i ask his name, the interpreter asks his mother, and then i’m told “he has no name yet.”

My heart is shattered, ransacked, undone

he is already helpless as a baby, he’s already fighting sickness

He has nothing but a soul and a mother, he doesnt even have a name

Unstoppable, my tears fall and voice shakes as all i can do is pray to the God that made him.

I prayed for his family, his health, that he would know Jesus Christ and follow Him all of his days.

I don’t understand his current struggle, I dont understand why he has no name, I don’t understand why this helpless baby boy has pneumonia.

But this I know and hold fast to, God made that precious babe, God is sovereign for this helpless babe.  God loves this baby and Christ died for him, and God knows this baby’s name.

I cannot do miracles.  All I have is a prayer, a broken heart, a hug for his mother, and the Word of God for her.

It seems like I failed since his situation remained the same, but I offered what I had, a prayer and a Bible, and the faith that God knows his name.

He is not forsaken.

I am reminded of these lyrics, that speak truth to this babe, “You know my name, You know my history, You know each tear that falls, and You hear me when I call. ”

How humbling and precious it is to be known by the Father.  He knows the names of the un-named.

Amen y amen.

Here at Honduras

Its been an amazing, humbling experience. The people here are very friendly and receiving of our team. Today we went to an orphanage and got to minister to some beautiful children. Went to a children’s school and put on a VBS and then we went to a building where they feed children each day for lunch and we also performed a skit about the parable of the lost sheep. We went the hospital to the children’s ward, where there are six children per room, were in USA we only have one patient. Tonight we went to a worship service, the people were very enthusiastic about worshiping Christ. Pastor Rich preached and three souls were saved. Can’t wait for tomorrow to do it all again.  ~ Jeff Vibbert

I sure do miss my sweetie pie!

No greater joy

I watched Christianna be the first person on the team get up in front of 100 people in another country giving her testimony how Jesus has affected her life. Her first words were “living life without Jesus is pointless.” As they say here: “Gloria Jesus.”
