Today was spent focused on mainly the children and it just reminded me that the children are just as much if not more important than the adults. Kids have this way of just taking things at face value and not asking questions, and that we need to realize as humans that we can not understand everything and that which we can not understand isn’t always fake. 95 percent of the known universe is something called dark matter which is only called that because we can not understand it. You ask a little kid what it is and they’ll tell you it’s just a place where nothing is there and that God didn’t create anything there. Sometimes I just wish that we could be like little children with our faith, where we just accept that we need God.
Day: January 13, 2012
Fourth day
We have been so busy from 6am to 9 or 10 every day starting to get tired but this is so awsome you want to go on and on wish we had more time with these fine people. Two more days Saturday is a little slower than the rest of the week but Sunday is jam packed.
Today has been another wow day we did the sin box I have never seen it but it was great the kids loved it. I got to be a sheep again in our lost sheep skit again the kids laugh and think it is great. Tonight Jeff gave his testamony it was awsome. Then Rich gave a wonderful serman and three were saved. So far they say 200 have came to the lord this week. We have a couple of transaters having throat problems so please pray for all of them they work so hard you can not imagine the work the do. When we went to Germany I remember Sina saying it is exhausting because there sentence structure is deferent than ours and so is spanish. Pamela said at the end of the day she is so tired so please again pray for these amazing girls Pamela is 28, Lucila is 31, Vannesa is 32, and Jenifer is 18 and Pamelas sister. Pamelas mom is one of our cooks and her husband is our drive. Her mom can make anything taste good.
Oh yes we did a dance with kids call chew cha waa and every body has been laughing at my dancing skills. I have had better than a wonderful time GOD is so great.
Just Suck It Up and Get Over It
Yesterday, to be honest was probably one of the hardest/scariest days of my life. But I just had to suck it up and get over it, as Terry said (the local missionsary). Though not because of a fear of a monster or some terrifying task or adventure in the sense you might think. It was my first day doing door-to-door evangelism. Wow, I have never been stretched so hard in one afternoon. I was so scared I would mess up my sharing of the Gospel. But once I got started sharing with this lady, God took away my fears. It wasn’t until after we walked away from the house that I got scared again, scared of the fact that I might have left something out. But God provided as he always does. Though all the people we shared the Gospel with did not come to Christ, we still planted seeds. Please pray for all the people who we shared the Gospel with. Yesterday evening we had a men’s and women’s conference. A few of us watched the kids, Me, Collin, Laura, Susie, Isaiah, Ida, and Jennifer our translator. We somehow managed to keep around 50 kids alive and happy (at least most of them, oh no don’t worry no one died). Collin found a friend (he nick-named him “Buddy”), Collin held him for most of the night. I’m pretty sure Buddy would have gone home with Collin in his backpack if Collin had tried to put him there, Buddy was so mellow. I found myself a friend too. He fell asleep in my arms, it was pretty sweet. But originally, he was the kid running around kicking and hitting people, I had to pull him away from a girl at one time and tell him no. Normally the stranger who disciplines the kid, the kid puts in his bad book forever. I found it interesting he let me hold him. This morning we held a “fiesta”. It was pretty fun, quite a few kids showed up. We got to put on a little skit called the “sin box”, its pretty much a skit that explains the Gospel. We will be having a leadership conference this evening.
Please continue to keep the trip in your prayers.

chicken patty thursday
Yesterday was chicken patty thursday! I was too tired to write yesterday after supper but I know some of you guys would appreciate the fact that we had chicken patties for supper last night. It was a long day, lots of time spent on the road driving to our locations ( which with Susie, Isaiah, and Jason with me in the back was quite entertaining! Lol.) The second run of doortodoor evangelism was different than this morning, but still with a purpose. We were able to encourage two catholic believers in their faith and answer some of their questions about scripture. It was neat to be a small part of discipleship on their spiritual journey. Later we had a great turnout for the womensconference. Props to everyone who helped coral the crowd of kiddos. This team is great – everyone just keeps chipping in wherever theres a need.
Ps, congrats to the Hedbergs. Aubrey Ann is beautiful! 🙂
Pps, to the Grom family – Susie found a friend. Dont worry, Ive got video of the monkey with the little monkey. Lol.
Ppss, Anderson, theres a car parts place here that makes me think of you – yonkers. Lol
Challenges and a Reminder to be Humble
Yesterday was not as productive as the day before within our team. We were in an area that had a strong Catholic presence and there were many that told us that only God would know who would and would not go to heaven. We spent a good amount of time trying to make them understand that we can know because we can trust the creator of the universe to keep all that he promises.
Though the people we shared with were more of a challenge, the area we were in was also humbling. Many lived about 4km down a difficult dirt and rock road that only a 4 wheel drive and goat cart can make it down. Most of the homes did not have electricity or even floors. It’s humbling every time we come as to how much we do have back and the amount that we still think we need.
I am also humbled by how faithful God is to the harvest when the workers are plentiful. May we all cast off our comfort and get motivated to seek the lost.
I have watched plumbers, welders, factory workers, garbage men, bankers, teachers, teenagers, and yes, even pastors give up their comfort, their time, and sometimes even their own humility in order to proclaim the gospel.
Each of us should ask ourselves, what will we give up for the least of these?
