What Is the Gospel?

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the most important information that I can share with you today. So let me begin by asking you this…

Do You Have Assurance?

0e1158163_footer-what-is-the-gospelEveryone knows that death brings us face to face with God. The thought can be frightening, especially if things aren’t as they should be. Many people push these thoughts aside until it’s too late. If you had died the moment you started reading this, do you have the assurance that you would be in heaven?

Understanding Your Need for Salvation

  1. Realize You Are a Sinner No matter how good a life we strive to live, we all fall short of God’s standards. The Bible declares, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)
  2. Recognize Jesus Christ’s Sacrifice Jesus Christ died on the cross for you. Scripture affirms, “But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” (Romans 5:8)
  3. Repent of Your Sin The Bible calls us to “repent and be converted.” To repent means to change our direction in life—from running away from God to running toward Him. (Acts 3:19)
  4. Receive Jesus Christ into Your Life Becoming a Christian isn’t just about believing a creed or attending church. It’s about inviting Christ Himself to take residence in your heart and life. Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in…” (Revelation 3:20; Romans 10:13)

Make a Life-Changing Decision Today

Would you like Jesus Christ to come into your life right now? You can take the first step by praying something like this:

“God, I repent of my sins, and I thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus Christ, to die for me and pay the price for my sin. I turn from my sin now and turn to You by faith. Come into my life and forgive me. I want to follow You from this time forward as Your disciple. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray.”

Now realize this is not some sort of magic phrase. You have to mean it and truly want Jesus to be the Lord of your life. The next thing is to get plugged into a local body of believers who can challenge you and help you to grow in your faith.
